Immersive Virtual reality (IVR) has enormous potential for use in education. Through use of a Head Mounted Display (HMD) IVR can provide immersive and interactive learning experiences that traditional methods can’t match. With IVR technology, students can visit places, perform tasks, and explore concepts that would be otherwise difficult or impossible to experience.
For example, IVR can be used in subjects like history, where students can travel back in time to witness historical events, or in science, where students can explore the inner workings of the human body or visit distant planets. IVR can also be used to simulate real-world scenarios and allow students to practice skills, such as public speaking or surgical procedures. Learn imrsv is currently supporting these types of educational interactions at New Mexico State University Alamogordo at our very own Virtual Reality Lab (Aggie – I Lab). This lab is specifically for students that attend the University.
In addition to enhancing the learning experience, IVR can also increase student engagement and motivation.
